Framework

We have selected WordPress as the overall framework for Anywhere Classroom. It is popular, has lots of developers, and is the easiest to use of all of the CMS tools we have looked at. There are a huge number of plug-ins and widgets available.

There are other tools, like Joomla and Drupal, that do offer more horsepower, but at the cost of ease of use. Not only is there a huge base of people that already know how to use WordPress, the basic concepts are easy to learn.

As we develop the framework, we’ll create customized themes designed especially for Anywhere Classroom. These themes will make it easier to set-up an Anywhere Classroom environment.

As we adopt specific plug-ins, themes, and widgets, we’ll create a pre-configured download version of WordPress especially for Anywhere Classroom. We’ll also want to customize the admin area.
