Content Formats

This is a bigger challenge than it seems, as we have to settle on standards for each type of content. While it seems this should be easy, there are some complications. There are format wars, with different companies battling for dominance

There are many text formats. Microsoft has their .docx format. It is a zip file with xml documents inside. While most other word processors can import the format, many can not export it as of this writing. The Open Document Format is supported by Open Office, and is also an XML zip based format. Neither one is particularly easy to incorporate for presentation use. Then there is plain text, with some form of mark-up language. It could be html or xml. XML seems like the most flexible, but that adds complexity.

For now, the simplest solution would be plain text with basic html markup. Editors for this are pretty simple.
